Albendazole
Composition
Each bolus contains Albendazole USP 600 mg.
Description
Benzimidazoles bind to β-tubulin, preventing its dimerization with α-tubulin and the polymerization of tubulin oligomers into microtubules. Microtubules are essential structural units of many organelles and are necessary for numerous processes, including protein assembly and energy metabolism. Although mammals also rely on tubulin for cellular metabolism, Almex-Vet exhibits a significantly higher affinity for nematode tubulin within the normal mammalian body temperature range.
Indications
Animals:
Almex-Vet is indicated as an anthelmintic against most nematodes and cestodes.
The formulation is effective against these gastrointestinal parasites: Bunostomum, Chabertia, Cooperia, Haemonchus, Nematodirus, Ostertagia, Strongyloides, Dictyocaulus viviparus, Moniezia expansa, liver flukes, and paramphistomes.
It is additionally used for different types of worms, lung flukes, and lung nematodes.
The product is ideal for multiple helminths, including roundworms, tapeworms, lungworms, and flukes.
It provides proven broad-spectrum activity against mature and immature stages of worms.
The formulation offers a wide safety margin with no side effects.
It can be safely used in pregnant animals after the first month of pregnancy.
The treatment is cost-effective compared to other anthelmintics available in the market.
Dosage & Administration
Route of Administration: Oral
Cattle & Buffaloes: Roundworms, tapeworms & lungworms: 7.5 mg/kg body weight; Liver flukes: 10 mg/kg body weight.
Sheep & Goats: Roundworms, tapeworms & lungworms: 5 mg/kg body weight; Liver flukes: 7.5 mg/kg body weight.
Horses: Roundworms & pinworms: 7.5 mg/kg body weight; Lungworms: 2.5 mg/kg body weight twice daily for 5 days.
Dogs & Cats: Roundworms, whipworms, hookworms, tapeworms, lungworms, bladderworms & flukes: 15 mg/kg body weight.

Side Effects
In several cases, nausea and vomiting may occur.
Withdrawal Period
Meat: 8-14 days and Milk: 3-5 days must not be consumed after administration.
