Composition
Water soluble powder containing Piperazine Citrate USP 100%.
Description
When exposed to Piper-Vet, parasites experience muscular hyperpolarization, inducing a reversible paralysis. This prevents the nematodes from maintaining their station within the host's gastrointestinal tract, leading to their subsequent expulsion via the feces.
Indications
Animals:
Piper-Vet is indicated for infestations produced by nematodes sensitive to piperazine, namely Ascaris, Oxyuris, some Strongyloides, and Trichuris.
The high doses required to disinfect in cases of polyparasitism make this product the anthelmintic of selection due to its low toxicity.
The formulation is safely active against all adult forms as well as against some evolutive stages of worms where it is found to be a drug of first choice.
Dosage & Administration
Route of Administration: Oral in water or feed.
Cattle & Buffalo: 25–50 g/100 kg body weight.
Horse: 25–30 g/100 kg body weight.
Sheep & Goat: 4–8 g/10 kg body weight.
Dog & Cat: 1.25 g/10 kg body weight.
Poultry: 250 mg/kg body weight (or 10 g in 6–8 L drinking water or 3.5 kg feed per 100 chickens, 50–60 pullets, or 20–30 layers).
Contraindications
The drug is contraindicated in poultry and animals with known hypersensitivity to active ingredients or renal failure.
Side Effects
Piperazine is very safe to use; the only occasional side effects are emesis and softening of the feces.
