BolusComposition
Bolus: Each bolus contains Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride BP 500 mg.
Injection: Each ml contains Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride BP 20 mg.
Description
Phenadryl Vet is an antihistaminic agent that competitively blocks H1 receptors to inhibit histamine activity, thereby reducing the symptoms of allergic reactions. In addition to its antihistaminic properties, it exerts notable sedative, anticholinergic, antitussive, and antiemetic effects.
Indications
Animals:
Dosage & Administration
Route of Administration: IM, IV, or oral.
Bolus (Oral):
Injection (IM/IV):
Or as directed by registered Veterinary Physician.
Interaction
With medicine: Diphenhydramine should not be used with additional tranquilizing medications (metoclopramide) in animals that experience a hyperactivity reaction. With feed and others: None reported.
Contraindications
Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride is contraindicated in animals hypersensitive to it.
Side Effects
Common side effects: CNS depression (drowsiness), anticholinergic effects (dry mouth, urinary retention), diarrhoea, etc. may occur in some cases. Rare side effects: Anaphylaxis, seizures, and tachycardia.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Use in pregnancy has not been determined. However, risk and necessity should be considered during administration in pregnant and lactating animals.
Precautions & Warnings
Use cautiously if your animal is taking sedatives, has trouble urinating, or is pregnant and lactating.
Storage Conditions
Store below 30°C in a dry place. Protect from direct sunlight. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
Withdrawal Period
Meat: 7 days after the last treatment; Milk: 2 days after the last administration.
