InjectionComposition
Description
Mel-Vet 2% contains meloxicam, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the oxicam class. It acts by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis, thereby exerting anti-inflammatory, anti-exudative, analgesic, and antipyretic properties. Meloxicam also possesses anti-endotoxic properties.

Dosage & Administration
Route of Administration: SC, IV, IM injection, or oral bolus.
Mel-Vet Injection (SC/IV/IM):
Mel-Vet 2% Injection (SC/IV/IM):
Mel-Vet Bolus (Oral):
Or as directed by the registered Veterinary Physician.
Interaction
With medicine: May cause increased likelihood of bleeding if use in conjunction with. Corticosteroids, Heparin, Warfarin, Aspirin, Flunixin & Phenylbutazone. No interaction known with feed or food.
Contraindications
Animals less than six weeks old. Animals hypersensitive to meloxicam. Contraindicated in animals with impaired renal, hepatic, or cardiac function.
Side Effects
Common side effects: A slight transient swelling at the injection site following SC injection may be seen. Rare side effects: Prolonged use may cause gastrointestinal lesions, inappetence, vomiting, and diarrhoea.
Pregnancy & Lactation
May be used in pregnant and lactating animals. However, risk and necessity should be considered during administration of medicine in pregnant and lactating animals.
Precautions & Warnings
Do not administer concurrently with steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
Storage Conditions
Store below 30°C in a dry place. Protect from direct sunlight. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
Withdrawal Period
Cattle — Meat: 15 days; Milk: 5 days. Pig — Meat: 5 days.
