Composition

Each ml Genacyn Vet 10 Injection contains Gentamicin Sulphate BP 1695 mg equivalent to 100 mg Gentamicin.

Indications

Livestock:

Genacyn-Vet 10 is a broad-spectrum antibiotic widely used for the treatment of urinary and respiratory tract infections.
The formulation is indicated for the treatment of severe infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including species of *Pseudomonas*, *Proteus*, many coliform bacilli, and *Mycoplasma*.
It is additionally effective in enteric diseases of neonates, such as scour and salmonellosis.
The product is active against most Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria.
It is bactericidal at low doses, ensuring efficient elimination of pathogens.
The formulation exhibits rapid tissue distribution, and bioavailability from extravascular injection is greater than 90 percent.
It maintains prolonged activity in major organs.
The preparation serves as the drug of choice in cases of resistance to other antibiotics such as oxytetracycline, chloramphenicol, and sulfonamides.

Poultry:

Genacyn-Vet 10 significantly reduces early chick and pullet mortality.

Dosage & Administration

Route of Administration: IV or IM injection.

Large Animal: 1 ml per 25 kg body weight.
Poultry: 0.05–0.1 ml per kg body weight.

Preferably give twice on the first day, then once daily for 3–5 days.

Or as advised by a registered veterinary physician.

Contraindications

Genacyn Vet 10 Injection is contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to Gentamicin. It is contraindicated in pregnancy and in myasthenia gravis.

Side Effects

Hypocalcaemia, neuromuscular paralysis, hypotension, nephrotoxicity, and ototoxicity have been reported with high and prolonged medication.

Withdrawal Period

Meat: 12 days and Milk: 3 days must not be consumed after administration.
